Indian food on the go.

Nidhi and Dinesh Tandon behind the counter of their original Indian food stand

A note from Dinesh

In his own words.

Eleven years down the road, sitting in my office watching the big screen with ten cameras focused in the kitchen, I watch my wife work with the same passion, the same love, and the same dedication she has held for years. Today, alongside a team of hard-working, strong-minded women, Nidhi stands as head chef of her kitchen. I like to say it plainly. Wonder woman runs this kitchen.

We started in a modest six-foot food stall outside Union Station in 2010. Over the years we took our cuisine from pop-up to pop-up, and finally to our home at Indigo, 243 K Street NE, where it has been for more than a decade. Every dish is crafted with love, rooted in the flavors of her upbringing in Jalandhar, Punjab, where we are both from.

Indigo is not about extravagance. It is far from fancy. Our belief is simple. Fresh, healthy food, prepared plainly enough for everyday enjoyment. Come dine with us, and you may be surprised by the satisfaction it brings.
